Welcome to Baldernock Gardening Club’s website.
Our club, which has been going strong for nearly 30 years, started in the parish of Baldernock but moved into neighbouring Milngavie in 2011 when we outgrew our original premises.
Our meetings are held in the Fraser Centre in Milngavie town centre on the first Tuesday of each month between September and May. We invite and listen to excellent speakers from all over the UK talking on a wide range of horticulturally and garden related topics (see programme pages) plus, there is always the opportunity to ask questions at the end of every talk. The evening is finished off with tea, biscuits and that all-important chat.
The emphasis is very much on learning about and enjoying plants, gardens and gardening in a relaxed, informal and very friendly atmosphere. To reinforce this, we also have Christmas and Summer parties, and a programme of outings, mostly to gardens and plant nurseries not generally open to the public.
We are proud to be completely financially independent. In May, in order to raise funds for all of the above, the whole club throws its collective energy into the renowned Baldernock Gardening Club Annual Plant Sale, at which, apart from a few Bedding Plants, all the plants offered for sale (at very reasonable prices) are grown in the gardens of our members. The range on offer is extensive, sometimes exotic, always tried and tested and there is usually a plant suitable for every garden!
Membership is full at the moment, but if you are interested in joining our vibrant Club, let us know and we will put you on our waiting list. In the interim all is not lost, as visitors are very welcome to attend talks and, if space available, some of the outings.
If you have email and wish to be notified of these, just contact us and we will put you on our non-member e-mailing list. It is free and you can ‘unsubscribe’ at any time and we do not send out any e-mails to you other than details concerning the Club. Unless otherwise advised, there is no need to book in advance for meetings.
